About this award

The Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded a $979,999.88 Project Grant to the Mississippi Department of Insurance under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG Program, CFDA 97.044). The grant will support the Mississippi State Fire Academy in delivering firefighter safety and emergency response services from August 2022 through August 2024.

As the goal of the AFG Program is to enhance public and firefighter safety regarding fire and fire-related hazards, this award will allow the State Fire Academy to provide critical training and resources to improve emergency response across Mississippi. The Academy will use the two years of funding to conduct programs that further the objectives of the AFG Program by improving firefighter practices and equipping departments to face fire and related dangers. This Project Grant aims to better protect both firefighters and communities through the Academy's services.
