The South Dakota Department of Public Safety was awarded a $476,628.64 Project Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency under the BRIC: Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program (CFDA #97.047) to deliver hazard mitigation activities from September 2022 through September 2025. As the state administering agency, the Department of Public Safety will utilize the funding to support projects that reduce risks from natural disasters by lessening their impacts on the state's infrastructure and communities. The Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program makes federal funds available nationwide to implement activities such as infrastructure retrofits, flood diversion and storage, and structure elevations that help mitigate damage from future disasters and make communities more resilient.
