The National Rural Water Association (NRWA), doing business as Gene's Place, received a $729,000 Project Grant award dated June 26, 2025, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service under the Water and Waste Technical Assistance and Training Grants program (CFDA 10.761). The grant supports NRWA's delivery of technical assistance and training services to rural water and wastewater systems across the United States, with performance activities based in Oklahoma City, OK.

Under this award, NRWA provides comprehensive capacity-building services to small and rural water utilities serving populations under 10,000, with particular emphasis on disadvantaged and tribal communities. Services include feasibility studies, preliminary design assistance, operator training, regulatory compliance support, and assistance in preparing infrastructure grant applications. NRWA leverages its nationwide network of state affiliate offices and technical specialists to help rural water and wastewater systems improve operational capabilities, achieve sustainable management practices, and enhance financial viability. Grant funds are allocated to direct staffing of activities and technical assistance delivery to maximize impact on underserved rural communities.
