About this award
The Studio Museum in Harlem will develop the Thomas J. Price exhibition "Witness" and 2021-22 season of InHarlem community-based collaborative programming under a $104,320 Project Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services' National Leadership Grants program. The Museum will deepen its roots in the Harlem community through InHarlem by providing arts-based programming for families, teens, and adults through both digital and in-person initiatives operating with local NYC libraries, parks, community centers and public schools. The grant will also support erecting a nine-foot bronze figure by UK artist Thomas J. Price in Harlem's Marcus Garvey Park addressing Black masculinity, stereotypes and shared diasporic experiences. The funding will aid the Museum and community's recovery from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by strengthening services for the American public, as intended under the NLG program.
