The Friends of the Tubac Presidio and Museum Inc. received a $168,286 Project Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the Museum Grants for American Latino History and Culture program (CFDA 45.033), effective October 1, 2025, with completion by September 30, 2027. The award supports the redevelopment of two museum exhibits that interpret the history of American Latinos in southern Arizona, with particular emphasis on the cultural interactions that shaped the American Southwest. The organization will also redesign communications materials and infrastructure to enhance public access and engagement with these exhibits.

In addition to exhibit development activities, the grant funds professional development and training initiatives for early-career museum professionals within the organization. These capacity-building activities align with the ALHC program's dual mandate to strengthen institutional capabilities of American Latino history and culture museums while advancing professional workforce development within the museum sector. The project will be performed at the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park in Tubac, Arizona, a facility that commemorates the region's first Spanish settlement established in 1752.
