The University of Oregon was awarded a $200,000 Project Grant from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (CFDA 93.433) to revise an existing employability skills curriculum for justice-involved youth with disabilities. The three-year project aims to update the curriculum, identify implementation strategies for job coaches, and incorporate applied work-based learning activities. Working with stakeholders including juvenile services personnel, justice-involved youth, vocational rehabilitation, and education professionals, the project will pilot test the revised "Ready-to-Work: Community" intervention in 30 community corrections educational settings. The primary outcome will be a shelf-ready employability social skills intervention that can be facilitated by juvenile services, vocational rehabilitation, workforce development, and education staff to improve employment outcomes for justice-involved youth with disabilities.
