The Upper Mattaponi Indian Tribe was awarded a $215,000 Project Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Administration and Resource Management under the Environmental Information Exchange Network Grant Program and Related Assistance (CFDA 66.608). The grant will support the development of a data management plan and centralized geospatial database to enhance the Tribe's environmental programs and natural resource decision-making capabilities. Key deliverables include a data management plan for existing tribal environmental data and monitoring priorities, as well as a geospatial database to store and share acquired environmental data with tribal partners, citizens, and stakeholders. The Big Valley Band of Pomo Indians Department of Environmental Protection will provide mentorship to assist the Upper Mattaponi Indian Tribe in implementing technological systems to efficiently acquire, manage, analyze, and electronically exchange environmental data. The three-year grant period runs from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2024.
