About this award
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration awarded the Iowa Department of Transportation $570,000 on December 1, 2025, under the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance High Priority Activities Grants and Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 20.237) to fund two projects through September 30, 2030.
Project 1, funded at $90,000, supports continuous operation and functionality of the CVIEW system, which exchanges interstate motor carrier information with the SAFER database. The system ensures law enforcement in Iowa and other states maintain current data on motor carrier operating authority, fleet details, and related information while complying with information change requirements.
Project 2 funds operations and maintenance for Iowa's integrated transportation data systems, including PRISM (Performance and Registration Information Systems Management), IFTA (International Fuel Tax Administration), and IRP compliance systems. These systems connect directly to roadside enforcement, TRACS application (state inspection software), and the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System via web services. The funding ensures continued system functionality, compliance, and data integrity.
Place of performance is Iowa.
