About this award
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration awarded the Maine Department of Public Safety $954,560 on December 1, 2025, under the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance High Priority Activities Grants program (CFDA 20.237) to fund operations, maintenance, repairs, and grant management for Maine's commercial motor vehicle safety technology infrastructure.
The award funds four project objectives. Project 1 covers four years of operations and maintenance costs for Maine's six virtual screening sites, sustaining vendor support and annual maintenance to keep the sites fully operational without impact to the state's basic Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program. Project 2 restores the I-95 Kittery southbound fixed truck inspection site to full operational capacity by replacing the pole and associated smart roadside technology infrastructure damaged in a June 2024 vehicle crash; this site is Maine's busiest truck inspection location by volume. Project 3 provides funding for maintenance and repairs to keep deployed technology systems operational with minimal unexpected downtime or reduced function. Project 4 contracts with a consulting firm to provide grant project oversight, grant management assistance, and grant reporting support to help maintain deployed technology systems.
Performance runs through September 30, 2030, in Maine.
