About this award

This federal Project Grant award from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) under the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance High Priority Activities Grants and Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 20.237) provides $440,000 in funding to International Registration Plan, Inc. (IRP) to monitor and improve the timeliness and quality of vehicle registration data transmissions.

The key objectives of this 2-year project include: 1) Identifying and documenting rejected vehicle registration data files that require correction, tracking the rate of successful resubmissions, and analyzing timelines; 2) Monitoring and documenting the end-to-end completion of vehicle registration data transmissions, identifying dropped records, and analyzing causal factors; and 3) Reconciling baseline and end-of-month vehicle registration data to uncover and analyze any unexpected discrepancies. The project aims to enhance the usefulness and quality of commercial motor vehicle registration data for law enforcement and regulatory purposes.

Description

This project seeks to identify and document those rejected data files requiring correction and analyze the number and percentage of rejected files subsequently corrected, returned, and successfully processed through the IDR along with their corresponding timelines.monitor and improve the total number of vehicle registration files transmitted from end-to-end. This project seeks to identify and document the successful end-to-end completion of data file transmissions along the IDR data pathway across each node by number and percentage and analyze missing (i.e., dropped) records for causal factors and or underlying trends.monitor and improve data reconciliation between initial baselining and end-of-month data. We will use the data pathway analysis within this study to identify the number and percentage of unexpected discrepancies and their associated attributes (e.g., data dictionary fields) and analyze for causal factors and or underlying trends.
