About this award
The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) was awarded a $600,000 Project Grant from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) under the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance High Priority Activities Grants and Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 20.237). The grant will support DMV's efforts to reduce commercial motor vehicle (CMV) crashes in designated high crash areas and work zones through weekly high visibility traffic enforcement on interstates and connecting roads from July 1, 2022 to September 30, 2024. Specifically, the DMV will conduct inspections and identify prohibited drivers in the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse database during roadside stops. The funding will also help decrease total CMV crashes in high incident locations and work zones through targeted traffic enforcement.
