Westcare California, Inc. received a $300,000 Project Grant from the Department of Labor's Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) under the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP, CFDA 17.805) effective July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028, to provide employment and supportive services to 75 veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness in San Joaquin County, California. The award funds comprehensive case management and employment services including intake assessment, individualized employment plans (IEPs), job readiness training, resume building and interview coaching, occupational skills training, digital and financial literacy workshops, and employer engagement activities.
In addition to employment services, the grant supports wraparound supportive services designed to address barriers to employment stability, including temporary housing assistance, transportation and childcare assistance, health and wellness referrals, and post-employment retention support through coaching and peer mentorship programs. The project establishes a measurable outcome target of at least 60% (45 veterans) securing stable, gainful employment. Through leveraging employer partnerships, job matching and placement services, and job fairs, the initiative aims to facilitate sustainable employment transitions and long-term economic stability for the veteran population served.
