The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $911,306 Project Grant under the Integrative Activities (CFDA 47.083) program to Delaware State University. The grant, effective September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2027, will fund the development of a suite of techniques for the automated identification and mapping of natural disaster impacts, such as flooding, wildfires, earthquakes, and landslides, using multi-band and multi-spectral satellite imagery. The project will leverage deep learning and subspace learning approaches to enable real-time monitoring and assessment of disaster-affected regions, helping to save lives and evaluate damages. This work aims to address the challenges associated with integrating and analyzing the abundant data from diverse satellite remote sensing platforms. Subawards are planned under this grant.
