This $504,194 Project Grant awarded by the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Biological Sciences program will support a 3-year Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Site at Harvard University's Harvard Forest in Petersham, MA. The REU Site program will provide research training for 30 undergraduate students, primarily from schools with limited research opportunities or underrepresented groups, over the summers of 2024-2026. Students will engage in a range of ecological research projects, learn about research methods and data analysis, present their work at scientific conferences, and develop professional networks to support their future careers in environmental science and ecology. The goal of the program is to inspire and empower the next generation of diverse scientists to address pressing long-term ecological challenges through place-based, interdisciplinary research.
