The National Science Foundation awarded a $464,935 Project Grant to the University of Massachusetts Boston to support a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site program in Integrative and Evolutionary Biology. This 3-year program, running from March 2024 to February 2027, will provide research experiences for up to 30 students, primarily from underrepresented groups or schools with limited research opportunities. Students will work on individual research projects applying molecular, genomic, and evolutionary approaches to address critical biological problems, under the mentorship of UMass Boston faculty. The program aims to develop students' scientific skills, independence, and confidence through the research experience, complemented by professional development activities.
