About this award

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) was awarded a $1,710,226 project grant from the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service under the State & Private Forestry Hazardous Fuel Reduction Program. The grant will fund TNC's "Passing the Torch: A Missouri Fire Collaboration for the Future" initiative from August 2, 2022 through September 30, 2026.

Through this initiative, TNC will work to reduce hazardous fuels and the risk of large, destructive wildfires across forests, woodlands, shrublands and grasslands in Minnesota. Specifically, TNC will focus on reducing the volume of combustible vegetation and woody debris that can spread wildland fire and cause long-term damage to natural resources. This work will help advance the goals of the Hazardous Fuel Reduction Program to lessen the undesirable impacts of catastrophic wildfires through strategic fuels management.
