The National Science Foundation awarded The Johns Hopkins University $485,683 under the Biological Sciences federal grant program (CFDA 47.074) for a Research Experiences for Undergraduates Site project from March 2023 through February 2026. The project will support computational biomolecular structure and design training for 36 undergraduate interns over three summer periods. Johns Hopkins will host 12 interns annually for 10 weeks to conduct research in various labs of the Rosetta Commons located across the U.S. and abroad. Students will gain experience in computational molecular design, biomolecular structure prediction, and collaborative interdisciplinary research methodologies. Upon completion, they will have a foundation in biochemistry, biophysics, computational biology, and molecular engineering. This project aims to broaden participation in these fields by training students from underrepresented groups and schools with limited research opportunities.
