Jackson State University was awarded a $150,000 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's Office of Integrative Activities under the Integrative Activities program (CFDA 47.083) to modernize numerical flow solvers with heterogeneous computing from October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2025. The university will create a general-purpose library of optimized parallelization functions and routines for mesh-based numerical solvers. This library will ease the burden of parallelizing such solvers across central processing units and graphics processing units on heterogeneous computing systems. The library is intended to accelerate and optimize numerical flow solvers through fully exploiting parallel computing capabilities. It will be freely available in the public domain to facilitate broader adoption. The funding also supports collaborative research and education activities between Jackson State University and the University of Mississippi aimed at developing high-performance scientific computing capabilities.
