The National Science Foundation awarded a $260,000 Project Grant to Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Camden under the Integrative Activities program (CFDA 47.083) to acquire a MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer. The mass spectrometer will be used to support multidisciplinary research and student education in fields including biomimetic self-assembly, cellular biochemistry, protein chemistry, novel biomaterials, nanomaterials, forensic analysis and molecular sensing. Specifically, it will enhance over 15 research labs' ability to characterize biomolecules, develop biomaterials and biopolymers, synthesize and analyze nanoparticles, study cellular functions, identify body fluids in forensics work, and characterize peptides and proteins. The award will also further the awardee's research outreach and training efforts. The period of performance is September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023.
