About this award
The U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) awarded a $476,666 Project Grant under the Criminal and Juvenile Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program (CFDA 16.745) to the Eighth Judicial District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada. This funding will enable the court to collaborate with Sierra Sage Recovery Services to deliver outpatient treatment and recovery housing to 45 youth aged 14 to 17 who have been certified as adults and court-ordered into the Creating Engagement thru Resources and Treatment (CERT) program. The project aims to address the lack of appropriate community resources for this population by expanding Sierra Sage Recovery Services' treatment options. This effort seeks to reduce criminal justice involvement, enhance crisis intervention, and provide comprehensive support services for youth experiencing mental health challenges.
Description
The eighth judicial district court will collaborate with sierra sage recovery services to deliver outpatient treatment and recovery housing to youth ages 14 TO17 who have been certified as adults and are court ordered into the clark county, eighth judicial district court, creating engagement thru resources and treatment program. This proposal fills a critical GAP in services for youth who are no longer eligible for treatment in the juvenile justice system and are too young to access services within the adult system. As a result, youth currently await mental health and substance use disorder treatment in correctional settings until they reach age 18. This partnership will address this lack of appropriate community resources by expanding sierra sage recovery services treatment options for youth in the creating engagement thru resources and treatment program. The project will serve 45 youth in clark county, nevada.
