About this award
The Alaska Native Justice Center, Inc. was awarded a $425,000 Project Grant from the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention under the Girls in the Juvenile Justice System federal grant program. The three-year award running from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2024 will support efforts to increase protective factors and improve juvenile justice system responses for girls involved in Alaska's juvenile justice system.
Specifically, in partnership with the Alaska Division of Juvenile Justice, the Alaska Native Justice Center and sub-awardee Cook Inlet Tribal Council Inc. will implement the Reach for Success Girls Reentry program. This program aims to address the disproportionate representation of Alaska Native/American Indian girls in Alaska's juvenile justice system by focusing on prevention and early intervention strategies to help prevent further delinquent behavior among at-risk and involved girls.
