Description

The city of LAS vegas proposes a second chance employment program (the program) which will assist formerly incarcerated individuals who are experiencing homelessness by providing them with sustainable job training and employment. With stable employment these individuals can move from homelessness into permanent housing and reduce recidivism. The program will be managed from the citys courtyard homeless resource center. Partner organizations that will support the program include ticket to home which provides relocation assistance to homeless persons and families, the multi-outreach resource engagement team which aids homeless individuals living in encampments and on the street, contracts with two transportation services, plus services provided by westcare nevada, INC., the salvation army of nevada, and help of southern nevada. The city also contracts with various property owners and non-profit organizations to provide housing. The citys assigned grant reviewer will monitor the financial aspects such as matching funds, direct costs, overhead costs, in-kind contributions, audits, and grant close-out. A grant manager will be responsible for monitoring project performance. The applicant describes the technology that will be used to collect data which will help to ensure fair and equal access for those experiencing housing issues.
