About this award

The Bureau of Justice Assistance awarded a $1,000,000 Project Grant under the Second Chance Act Reentry Initiative (CFDA 16.812) to the King County Office of Performance Strategy and Budget to implement an electronic, virtual 24/7/365 substance use disorder (SUD) recovery system for at least 500 persons involved in the criminal legal system in King County, Washington. The funding will be used to establish a performance-based contracting practice and procure a virtual treatment reentry portal to address long wait times and low enrollment rates for current SUD treatment options, with the goal of reducing jail bookings, substance use, supervision violations, and increasing treatment completion and enrollment - particularly for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. The project will involve planning, coordination, and implementation activities, as well as an outreach and recruitment video, in partnership with the sub-grantee Igntd Inc., a self-certified small disadvantaged business.
