The Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education received a $1,180,162 Migrant Education State Grant Program (CFDA 84.011) formula grant from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education. The grant funds are used to assist the state in ensuring that migratory children have the opportunity to meet the same challenging state content and performance standards as all other children. The Department manages the grant funds by issuing sub-awards to local educational agencies, school districts, non-profits, and community organizations to deliver educational goods and services directly to migratory students across Massachusetts. Major sub-awardees include municipalities, public school districts, charter schools, and organizations focused on early childhood, STEM, summer learning, and other academic and enrichment programs supporting student achievement. This formula grant supports the state's administration of core education initiatives for migratory children from July 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024.
