The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded the Maine Department of Education a $783,361 Formula Grant under the Migrant Education State Grant Program (CFDA 84.011). This grant, with a performance period from July 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025, will fund the delivery of educational services for children of migratory agricultural workers and fishers in Maine. The funds will enable the Maine Department of Education to provide supplemental instruction, academic support, English language development, school readiness programs, career and technical education, and other tailored initiatives to address the unique educational needs of this mobile student population. As the state education agency, the Maine Department of Education will distribute sub-awards to local school districts, educational service centers, universities, and non-profit organizations to directly implement these services and support the educational attainment of migratory children in Maine.
