About this award
The Pennsylvania Game Commission received a $1.2 million formula grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) Fish and Wildlife Service under the Wildlife Restoration and Basic Hunter Education and Safety program (CFDA 15.611), effective July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. The award supports critical wildlife management coordination and endangered species conservation efforts across Pennsylvania, with primary deliverables including: (1) coordination and management of grant administration processes to maintain wildlife program eligibility requirements in compliance with applicable federal regulations; (2) expansion and maintenance of a statewide informational database documenting existing habitats for federal and state threatened, endangered, candidate, and listed species; and (3) evaluation and promotion of wildlife management activities within and adjacent to critical habitats through outreach and education initiatives that address industrial, commercial, and environmental improvement projects conducted by both government and private sector entities.
The Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act authorizes this formula grant program, which distributes funding to state fish and wildlife agencies based on established allocation methodologies. The Pennsylvania Game Commission, as the responsible state agency, must maintain cost records separately for this grant and retain all supporting documentation for three years following submission of the Federal Financial Report (SF 425), consistent with standard federal grant compliance requirements outlined in 50 CFR 80.
Description
There is an additional need to expand our informational database statewide relative to existing habitats for both federal and state threatened, endangered, candidate and listed species. There is also additional need to evaluate and promote (via outreach and education) management activities occurring within and adjacent to these critical habitats from industrial, commercial, and competing environmental improvements conducted by government and private sector interests. The pennsylvania game commission is the responsible state agency managing this grant project as well as complying with all applicable federal laws and regulations as promulgated.
