About this award
Federal Grant Award Summary
The U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service awarded the State of Utah, Division of Wildlife Resources (UDWR) $1.3 million through the Wildlife Restoration and Basic Hunter Education and Safety program (CFDA 15.611) for the period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. This formula grant supports the operation and maintenance of two public shooting range facilities—the Lee Kay Public Shooting Range and the Cache Valley Public Shooting Range—which serve as safe, structured locations for target shooting, hunter education, and shooting sports activities throughout Utah.
Under this award, UDWR will continue delivering educational shooting sports programs, hunting outreach initiatives, and informational clinics and seminars designed to introduce citizens to shooting and hunting while improving skills among experienced participants and reactivating past hunters. The grant funding enables UDWR to sustain public access to these facilities and maintain the infrastructure, programming, and safety standards necessary to support Utah's long-standing hunting and shooting sports heritage. These activities align with the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act's mandate to support state wildlife agency initiatives for wildlife conservation, management, and hunter education.
