About this award

The U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service Region 2 awarded the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) a Wildlife Restoration grant totaling $520,325.43 under the Wildlife Restoration and Basic Hunter Education and Safety program (CFDA 15.611) for the performance period of July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027. The award funds three primary objectives: conducting twelve annual migratory bird population surveys to monitor long-term population trends under current regulations; participating in four technical committees supporting the Central Flyway; and routine operation and maintenance of support facilities required for survey and monitoring activities.

The grant supports comprehensive project administration, personnel management, equipment maintenance and repair, and professional development activities including continuing education, workshops, and symposia conducted in coordination with multi-agency regional efforts. Data and survey results generated through this award will be utilized by ODWC to formulate wildlife management and conservation strategies specific to Oklahoma's migratory bird populations and to provide accurate population information to external stakeholders. This award continues ODWC's established Wildlife Restoration migratory bird studies grant series and aligns with the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act's mission to restore, conserve, and manage wild birds and their habitats.
