Cdfw acquired LOS banos wildlife area (lbwa) in 1929, mendota wildlife area (MWA) in 1955, cottonwood creek wildlife area (ccwa) in 1979 and north grasslands wildlife area (ngwa) in 1990. The volta wildlife area (VWA) is owned by the U.S. Bureau of reclamation and is managed by cdfw through a lease agreement initiated in 1952. Three of the wildlife areas (lbwa, VWA, and ccwa) are managed out of one office and collectively form the LOS banos wildlife area complex (lbwac). The lands are managed to protect, preserve and enhance the interior wetlands present on the area, and the species associated with those various habitats. The following three jobs will provide objectives and approach to maintaining the five was.
