About this award
The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Department will receive $109,500 under a Formula Grant award from the U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service Region 6 to conduct habitat restoration work on the Mount Haggin Wildlife Management Area through December 2026. Funded by the Wildlife Restoration and Basic Hunter Education and Safety program (CFDA 15.611), the award will support efforts to prevent loss of sagebrush, grassland, aspen and riparian habitat by removing competing conifers. This habitat restoration is expected to increase forage and browse available throughout the year for wildlife species such as elk, mule deer, moose, pronghorn, ruffed grouse and small mammals and songbirds. The Pittman-Robertson program aims to restore, conserve, manage and enhance wild birds and mammals through state-level projects.
