The Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded $41,748,587 to the California Office of Traffic Safety under the Minimum Penalties for Repeat Offenders for Driving While Intoxicated federal grant program (CFDA 20.608). This formula grant will support alcohol-impaired driving countermeasures in California from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2025. As the designated state agency, the California Office of Traffic Safety will implement programs and services to encourage the enactment and enforcement of repeat intoxicated offender laws, with the goal of reducing incidents of driving under the influence. The parent agency, the California State Controller's Office, will provide administrative oversight and disbursement of grant funds.
