About this award

The Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) awarded Maryland Department of Labor $1,788,690 through the Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG) program (CFDA 17.801) effective October 1, 2025, through December 31, 2027. This formula grant funds three core staffing positions within American Job Centers across Maryland: Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists who deliver individualized career services to veterans with significant employment barriers; Local Veterans' Employment Representatives (LVER) who conduct employer outreach and advocacy to increase hiring of veterans; and consolidated DVOP/LVER staff serving in a dual capacity. The grant prioritizes service to economically or educationally disadvantaged veterans, service-connected disabled veterans, homeless veterans, and other veterans facing significant barriers to employment.

Through these funded positions, the program prepares veterans and transitioning service members for meaningful careers by providing employment resources, expertise, and advocacy support designed to increase employment opportunities and encourage veteran hiring among business executives and employers. As the state workforce agency, the Maryland Department of Labor directly administers these services without subawards and maintains grant-mandated cost accounting, timekeeping, and performance records in accordance with established Veterans Program Letters and federal regulations.
