Description

Paul. Gun violence within ST. Paul and minneapolis continues to be related to conflicts and retaliatory violence, both historic and current, between members of rival gangs or street groups. Shootings are extremely high. Violent actors are often young men in their early twenties. Car jackings are largely committed by juveniles who are sometimes being directed by adults. The 2022 PSN funding will continue to support the group violence intervention (GVI) strategies in minneapolis and ST. Paul, as well as supporting an expansion initiative in minneapolis to focus on juveniles. PSN funds will also support efforts to increase clearance rates through support of contract investigators in the minneapolis police department. The minnesota office of justice programs, will continue to serve as the fiscal agent, and along with representatives from the violent crime coordinating council, the bureau of criminal apprehension, and the united states attorney's office will serve as the executive task force.
