Description

Activities
Due to a lack in elevation change on the site, the discharge will be put through a flow-splitting pool, then to two layered-style vertical flow ponds that will have a few feet of limestone with approximately 6" to 1' of compost on top as well as a water cap. The final pond will be an aerobic wetland before discharging to two lick creek. During the design phase of the project, stream restoration incorporated will determine if IT is possible to put in a TIF at the beginning of the system to promote low PH iron removal. The conceptual design for this system is expected to improve the water quality of the discharge before IT enters two lick creek better than the current lime dosing silo.expected deliverables or outcomes:proper treatment of this discharge can prevent approximately 60.3 tons of acidity, five tons of iron (FE), and five tons of aluminum (AI) per year from entering two lick creek. This will consequently improve the water quality and biota of this regionally valuable stream.
Intended beneficiaries
The wild trout fishery of two lick creek should increase substantially from direct improvements in water quality and indirect improvements in water fertility and macroinvertebrate populations.subrecipient activities (if known or specified at time of award): n/a
