The Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration awarded a $7.8 million cooperative agreement to the State of Maryland Department of Labor Licensing & Regulation from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2024. The award will support the state's implementation and oversight of unemployment insurance programs under the Unemployment Insurance federal grant program (CFDA 17.225).

As the designated state workforce agency, DLLR will deliver unemployment compensation and benefits to eligible workers in Maryland. This includes standard unemployment insurance as well as programs providing assistance during federally declared disasters and for former federal employees and service members. The funding will aid DLLR's administration of these unemployment programs through 2024 in accordance with requirements for federal-state cooperation. Oversight and implementation supported through this cooperative agreement will help provide temporary financial assistance to Maryland residents who are unemployed through no fault of their own.
