THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO CONTINUE TO PROMOTE AND STRENGTHEN THE SERVICES RELATIONSHIP WITH BETHUNE-COOKMAN UNIVERSITY (B-CU), ONE OF FLORIDAS FOUR HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES (HBCUS), WHILE ADDRESSING UNMET CAPACITY NEEDS OF THE SERVICE. THE PROJECT WOULD PROVIDE PAID INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO B-CU STUDENTS AND OFFER A COURSE FOCUSED ON PRODUCING DRAFT 5-YEAR REVIEWS. FUTURE INTERNSHIPS AND COURSE OFFERINGS WILL PROVIDE MEANINGFUL EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCES FOR STUDENTS WITH DIVERSE TALENTS, BACKGROUNDS, AND VIEWPOINTS, AND EXPOSURE TO POTENTIAL CAREER PATHS AND OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE SERVICE, AS WELL AS PRODUCING NEEDED PRODUCTS FOR THE SERVICE. CONTINUING A DEDICATED INTERNSHIP PROGRAM WITH AN ESTABLISHED STUDENT WORKFORCE WILL ALLOW FOR RAPID IMPLEMENTATION OF HIGH PRIORITY PROJECTS. OUR GOAL IS TO HELP DEVELOP SKILLSETS AND RECRUIT DIVERSE TALENT INTO OUR WORKFORCE AND ENHANCE THE CONSERVATION KNOWLEDGE AND CAPABILITIES OF THE STUDENTS.
