THE ARIZONA MONARCH COLLABORATIVE (AMC) WAS FORMED IN 2019 TO BRING TOGETHER PEOPLE WORKING ON MONARCH AND POLLINATOR CONSERVATION IN THE STATE OF ARIZONA. CONTRIBUTORS TO THE AMC INCLUDE LOCAL PERSONNEL FROM FEDERAL AGENCIES, STATE AGENCIES, NON-PROFITS, UNIVERSITIES, AND TRIBES. AMC HAS ACCOMPLISHED A FEW KEY CONSERVATION ACTIONS SINCE ITS FOUNDING, BUT IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE MUCH MORE IMPACTFUL WITH A DEDICATED STATE COORDINATOR. BASED ON SUCCESSFUL STATE COORDINATORS IN EASTERN STATES, WE PROPOSED TO HIRE AN ARIZONA STATE COORDINATOR THAT WILL FURTHER ORGANIZE THE EFFORTS OF THE AMC, CREATE A VOLUNTARY STATE ACTION PLAN, CONTRIBUTE TO WESTERN ASSOCIATION OF FISH AND WILDLIFE AGENCIES MONARCH AND POLLINATOR GROUP, STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIPS, AND IMPROVE COMMUNICATIONS. AS THE FIRST STATE IN THE WESTERN FLYWAY TO HAVE A STATE MONARCH COLLABORATIVE, WE ALSO PLAN TO CREATE A RESOURCE GUIDE ON THE ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND LESSONS LEARNED FROM ADDING A STATE COORDINATOR.
