About this award

Chem3 LLC (doing business as Chemcubed) was awarded a $799,997.40 cooperative agreement by the National Institute of Standards and Technology under the Science, Technology, Business and/or Education Outreach federal grant program (CFDA 11.620). During the one-year project period from October 1, 2022 to October 31, 2023, Chemcubed will evaluate printing and mixing parameters to optimize the mechanical properties of 3D printed electronics. Activities will include mechanical testing of printing parameters, thermal evaluation, and electrical testing with varying levels of carbon nanotubes. Auburn University School of Engineering will assist as a subrecipient in developing and implementing new technologies. The funding aims to improve manufacturing processes, develop larger and faster printer systems, and scope flexible dielectric inks for flexible hybrid electronics and space applications.

Description

Activities
During phase II, chemcubed plans to complete mechanical testing of printing parameters, conduct thermal evaluation, and complete electrical testing of printing parameters with multiple carbon nanotubes (CNT) levels.
Expected outcomes
Chemcubed anticipates that the impact of its phase II activities on future r & d will include improvements to the manufacturing process, developing bigger and faster printer systems, development of a flexible dielectric INK for flexible hybrid electronic (FHE) applications, and for space applications.
Intended beneficiaries
Chemcubed?s intended beneficiaries include market channels of distributors (global regions), oems and end-users in the electronics market, sub-segments of aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, military, and defense. Expected future customers are expected to be air force end users, and private sector customers in the same sub-segments.
Subrecipient activities
Chemcubed intends to utilize auburn university school of engineering as subcontractors. The subcontractor will assist chemcubed with developing and implementing new technologies during phase II.
