Description
Awards issued prior to january 20, 2025, were funded under previous administrations and may not reflect the priorities and policies of the current administration.** currently there is a significant lack of organics recycling infrastructure in the dane county region, especially when IT comes to food scrap recycling. This project will greatly improve county residents' availability to recycle and/or compost food scraps, and will provide dane county with the means to sustainably grow and sustain a food scrap drop off program. Success of the program will be reliant on stakeholder-based design of engaging kiosks placed strategically throughout the region as well as measurable educational efforts to create and grow a drop off program that will yield a clean and desirable organics waste stream. Dane county will be committing and supporting this project through dedication of staff and county resources, both at an operations and admin level. Dane county commits to having a place to take and recycling organics once collected, as well as provide the staff needed to plan, design, coordinate, and evaluate the program created through this project. Dane county staff will be responsible for developing educational materials, outreach plans, and evaluating growth of participation in organics recycling through and beyond the grant funding cycle. Staff will also be responsible for maintaining the program once set up; building, delivering, and collecting from the kiosks once designed through stakeholder engagement. Through these combined resources and the efforts of dane county, regional citizens will have access to readily available and reliable organics recycling well into the future.
