Newp-2025 - native employment works program

Native Employment Works Program Block Grant Award Summary

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe received a $168,176 block grant award from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families under the Native Employment Works (NEW) program (CFDA 93.594) for the period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. The funding supports the tribe's workforce development initiatives designed to enhance job readiness, facilitate job placement, and promote job retention for Native American populations within its service area in north-central Minnesota.

Through this award, the Leech Lake Tribal Council will deliver comprehensive work activities and supportive services to eligible tribal members. The funding amount is based on the tribe's historical Tribal JOBS (Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training) Program funding level from fiscal year 1994, consistent with the NEW program's allocation methodology for recurring annual awards to eligible existing recipients. As a federally recognized tribe with extensive experience administering federal workforce development and community services programs, the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe will implement services in accordance with an approved three-year NEW program plan and comply with applicable federal accounting standards, the Single Audit Act of 1984, and OMB Uniform Guidance requirements.
