Under this grant, Johns Hopkins will analyze Cassini data, give scientific presentations, attend project meetings, support public outreach efforts, and publish results. The grant also covers the preparation of a "gazetteer" user guide for the Huygens datasets, analysis of Cassini spacecraft data, and documentation of efforts to detect the Cassini entry using ground-based telescopes. This award does not have a set-aside designation and runs through January 31, 2023.
Description
APL shall provide basic scientific research support to the cassini radar as follows: provide assistance in the analysis of cassini data, including SAR, radiometry, scatterometry and altimetry give scientific talks to facilitate the dissemination of the knowledge thus gained about titan and the saturnian system, and lessons learned during the cassini mission prepare for and attend project science group (PSG) meetings prepare for and attend crst and tost meetings and telecons advise on other team activities as required support education/public outreach (e/PO) activities publish results in the open scientific literature, leading and/or supporting team publications as required. APL shall provide huygens closeout activities support as follows: assist with the preparation of a 'gazetteer' to the huygens datasets and publications (i.e. a mission-level user guide) analyze/publish results of the cassini spacecraft solid state recorder (SSR) error rates versus orbital position assist with documentation of the efforts to detect the cassini entry with groundbased telescopes and identify lessons learned regarding the coordination of groundbased timecritical observations APL will represent cassini radar and huygens at the following meetings: technical interchange meeting (pasadena, CA), cassini PSG meetings, titan surface workshop, icar, cospar, cassini science workshop, and epsc. Post-DOC shall contribute to the analysis, preparation and publication of radar-huygens tasks and activities under the direction of the PI.
