About this award
This federal contract award, worth up to $4,379,195.00, was issued by the Langley Research Center (LARC) of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to Honeywell International Inc.'s Aerospace Golden Valley (Advanced Technology) division. The contract falls under NASA's ARMD NRA - RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT major program code and is a Cost Plus Fixed Fee delivery order.
The objective of this contract is to create an assembly of analytical tools and techniques that avionics engineers can use to cost-effectively develop safety-critical distributed systems for 21st century aviation. This will involve enhancing probabilistic modeling capabilities and techniques to model time-varying system composition. The work will integrate Honeywell's expertise in practical fault-tolerant architectures and actual failure modes with formal verification and validation tools, such as PVS and SAL, as well as the EDICT tool chain. The contract does not have a set-aside designation.
Description
TAS:: 80 0125:: TAS recovery act funds this is a research program for vvfc-1.2 integrated distributed systems which will create an assembly of analytical tools and techniques that avionics engineers can use to cost effectively develop safety-critical distributed systems for 21ST century aviation. This work will combine honeywell's body of knowledge in practical fault-tolerant architectures and knowledge of actual failure modes with the powerful suite of formal verification and validation tools, such as PVS and SAL together with the system modeling and analysis capabilities of the edict tool chain. The research proposes to add new capabilites to the tools by integrating enhanced probabalistic modeling capabilities and enhanced techniques to model time-varying system composition. The objectives are to create models for (1) failures, disturbances, and degradation, (2) communication topologies, distributed algorithms, (3) new system decomposition, and functional integration using tools and tool extensions that with a framework, can be integrated with each other and with other system design tools.
