The National Park Service Pacific West Region awarded a $1.5 million firm fixed price contract to IRS Environmental of Portland, Inc. for hazardous materials abatement services at multiple historic buildings located at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Washington. The contract, set aside for small businesses, requires the contractor to remove asbestos, lead, mercury, polychlorinated biphenyls, and wildlife excrement from the buildings. Additional work includes selective demolition and minor repairs. Funding is provided by the Department of the Interior National Park Service Pacific West Region. The contract supports the agency's mission to preserve and protect historic sites and resources for public access by remediating hazardous materials to allow continued use and maintenance of the buildings at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
