About the company
Kansas City Metropolitan Library & Information Network Mid-America Library Alliance Division (MALA) is a non-profit organization that offers development training for library professionals. MALA provides courier services to public libraries in Missouri through federal grant subawards from the Missouri Secretary of State.
MALA has received multiple federal subawards to provide courier services to over 120 Missouri public libraries each year. The courier service makes over 260 stops per week to deliver and pick up library materials to enable resource sharing throughout the state. This allows small, rural libraries to access materials from larger library systems at no cost. The courier service also connects Missouri public libraries with academic libraries in the state through the MOBIUS consortium. Additionally, MALA's courier network links to the Trans-Amigos Express, enabling access to library collections in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico. MALA has provided this federally-subsidized statewide courier system under federal subawards from the Missouri Secretary of State in fiscal years 2021, 2022 and 2024.
