First United Methodist Church West Point

First United Methodist Church West Point, operating through its First United Methodist Church Division, is a non-profit organization registered to receive federal grant awards. The entity primarily engages in child development services and participates in federal nutrition programs aimed at providing meals and snacks to children. As a faith-based organization, First United Methodist Church West Point likely combines its religious mission with community service initiatives, particularly focusing on early childhood education and care through its child development center.

The organization has received multiple federal grant subawards from the Mississippi Department of Education to support its participation in the USDA Child Nutrition Programs. Specifically, First United Methodist Church West Point, through its Fumc Child Development Center division, has been involved in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the National School Lunch Program. The center has received funding for the CACFP cash-in-lieu of commodities program, which allows institutions to receive cash payments instead of donated foods. Additionally, it has obtained National School Lunch Program funds through the consolidated administrative funding (CN BLOCK CONSOLIDATED) program. These subawards enable the Fumc Child Development Center to provide nutritious meals and snacks to children in its care, supporting the federal government's efforts to improve child nutrition and combat food insecurity in educational settings.
