About this program
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) funds basic, clinical, translational, and implementation research supporting the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of drug use, misuse, and addiction, drug overdose, and related health outcomes including HIV/AIDS under Assistance Listing 93.DA3, with the most recent activity dating to the current grant cycle.
NIDA awards grants directly to applicant institutions following National Advisory Council on Drug Abuse concurrence and approval. The program evaluates projects on scientific and technical merit, trainee qualifications, research feasibility, potential contribution to the national drug use problem, and alignment with NIDA priorities. The review timeline ranges from 240 to 270 days from submission for most applications; AIDS applications are reviewed within 180 days from receipt date.
The source provided does not include a recent grant award portfolio, recent awards block, or current open opportunities. Without access to award data, award counts, funding concentration figures, or typical award magnitudes, the current funding volume, assistance-type distribution, or representative recent awards cannot be characterized from this source.
Eligible applicant organizations are determined at the individual Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) level, so applicant category constraints vary by opportunity. Recipients must comply with 2 CFR Part 200 Subpart F audit requirements and NIH Grants Policy Statement provisions and must retain records for at least three years, or longer if audit findings remain unresolved.
To assess whether pursuing this program is worthwhile, a business development professional should consult the active NOFO posted on the NIH grants portal or NIDA's website to confirm current opportunity status, specific eligibility constraints for applicant organizations, assistance type, funding availability, and submission deadlines.
