About this program

The National Cancer Institute (a division of the National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services) funds interdisciplinary cancer research centers through Assistance Listing 93.CA2; the source does not identify a recent grant award date or open application deadline.

The program provides organizational and financial support for cancer research infrastructure and collaborative teams aimed at reducing cancer incidence, mortality, and morbidity. Funded activities center on establishing and operating research centers that integrate multiple scientific disciplines around cancer-focused research questions; the source does not detail representative recent awards or specify the types of research problems or cancer populations targeted.

The program evaluates applications through scientific peer review by subject-matter experts and the National Cancer Advisory Board. Evaluation criteria emphasize scientific merit and significance of proposed research, technical adequacy of experimental design, investigator competency, facility and resource adequacy, budget justification, and alignment with announced program objectives and NCI strategic priorities. Funding decisions rest on peer-review assessment, fund availability, and program priority relevance.

The source does not disclose the distribution of assistance types (Project Grants, Cooperative Agreements, or other forms), recent award volume, typical award magnitudes, or funding concentration among multiple agencies. It does not identify currently open grant opportunities or recent solicitation dates. Recipients must retain expenditure and financial records for three years following the final financial status report, and grants are subject to inspection and audit by HHS and other federal agencies consistent with 2 CFR Subpart F.

Without recent award data, recent opportunity postings, or award-size ranges in the source material, the current market activity and pursuit readiness for this program cannot be assessed from available information.
