About this program
The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) under the Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health funds research training, research scientist development, and dissemination of research findings related to biomedical, genetic, psychological, and environmental factors in alcohol abuse and alcoholism, with CFDA 93.AA4; the source does not report recent grant awards or open grant opportunities.
The program supports fundamental research and training activities designed to develop knowledge applicable to improved treatment methods and prevention strategies for alcoholism and alcohol-related problems. The source does not specify the assistance-type mix, award magnitudes, typical funding levels, or recent award activity—no grant awards, funding concentrations, or recent grant opportunities are documented in the source material provided. The program operates under a 240- to 270-day review timeline from application submission (180 days maximum for AIDS applications). Award decisions rest on scientific and technical merit, the merits of the training program, potential contribution to the national drug use problem, and relevance to NIAAA priorities. Renewals are determined at the individual NOFO level. Recipients are subject to 2 CFR Part 200 Subpart F audit requirements and must retain records for at least three years, extending beyond that period if audit findings remain unresolved. Principal investigators may appeal substantive or procedural aspects of application review through NIH Peer Review Appeal procedures.
Without recent award examples, funding history, typical award sizes, or posted grant opportunities in the source, the current pursuit readiness for this program cannot be assessed. Organizations interested in NIAAA training and research dissemination support should contact NIAAA directly or monitor the NIH grants portal for posted NOFOs under this listing.
