About this program

The Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration funded community-based comparative effectiveness research infrastructure through CFDA 93.420, with the most recent grant awards disbursed on September 1, 2010.

This program is no longer active. The five awards in the portfolio were all obligated in 2010, with completion dates in August 2013. No grant awards have been disbursed in the 16 years since the final cohort was funded, and no recent grant opportunities are open under this listing.

When active, the program supported consortia of safety-net providers and academic institutions developing capacity to conduct community-based comparative effectiveness research on priority health topics. Awards funded research infrastructure, data management coordination centers, and HIV/AIDS research nodes. The five awards totaling $9.9 million in federal obligations ranged from approximately $1.95 million to $2 million per cooperative agreement. Representative funded activities included a technology-enabled comparative effectiveness research alliance (UB2HA20234, $1,999,951), research infrastructure and comparative effectiveness capacity building through health centers (UB2HA20235, $2 million), an HIV/AIDS research node at the Fenway Institute (UB2HA20233, $1,983,467), and central data management coordination (UB3HA20236, $1,947,246 and UB2HA20232, $2 million).

The program operated exclusively as Cooperative Agreements. All five awards came from HRSA with no involvement of other funding agencies.

Do not pursue this program. The listing remains open in the federal Assistance Listing database but represents an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) initiative that completed its funded cycle over a decade ago. No indication in the source suggests reinstatement of funding authority or new opportunity announcement.
