About this program
The National Institutes of Health Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (within the NIH Office of the Director) funds research infrastructure strengthening under CFDA 93.3RC, supporting biomedical research resources, disease models, instrumentation, facility construction and modernization, and veterinary scientist training.
The program description provided does not include recent grant award activity, award dates, or posted grant opportunities, so current program momentum cannot be assessed from this source. The eligibility statement indicates the program accepts applications from institutions of higher education, hospitals, nonprofit organizations, and for-profit entities; instrumentation and equipment sub-programs are limited to private and public nonprofit institutions.
Evaluation criteria emphasize scientific merit, experimental design adequacy, investigator competency, facility and resource sufficiency, budget justification, and alignment with announced program objectives. Applications proceed through peer review committees comprised of subject-matter authorities, with recommendations forwarded to the NIH Council of Councils for final approval.
Standard NIH grant compliance applies: recipients must retain financial and programmatic records for three years from the date of annual financial status report submission; audit requirements trigger at $750,000 in federal awards expended annually (or $500,000 under 45 CFR 75 for certain entities). Foreign grantees and federal institutions follow commercial audit standards. The Inspector General and Comptroller General retain unrestricted access to recipient records pertinent to awards.
To evaluate whether this program merits pursuit, you will need to cross-reference current NOFO postings on Grants.gov or the NIH Grants & Funding page to confirm active solicitations, recent award patterns, and funding levels under this Assistance Listing.
